Now although this blog isn’t brand new it’s effectively start from scratch.

So here’s 5 reasons why you should put in some work and start a blog.

#1 Passion – It gives you a platform to share your passion. Pick a domain name that reflects your passion and then start writing about why you love the subject. I’ve already for 2 dozen different subject lines to blog about, and that’s before I start finding other blogs in this niche and creating conversational posts.

#2 Search engine value – I’ve only been testing the water with some replies to listbuilding articles I found via google reader and I’m already getting some love from the search engines for really targeted keywords.

#3 Authority – In a few weeks / months when I have written multiple posts on list building this site will differentiate me from other people in the field. The posts I have written can be turned into articles and spun all over the article sites and drive traffic back to this site.

#4 List Building – given the subject of this blog this is hardly surprising. Within wordpress you have may different ways to entice people onto your list. All you need is a free report / audio / video tutorial relating to your niche. You can add this to the sidebar, at the end of every post (what would seth godin do plugin), a footer advert, exit pop-ups, or a combination of these.

#5 Money – I forked out quite a significant of cash to get the socrates theme as it has space in all the right places to copy & paste in advertising – the header at the top is the perfect size for google adsense if you can’t find clickbank products that you think your niche will love.

Lastly if you have your own products / services then by combining a blog with social media you can really stand out from your competition and provide customers with a direct interaction.
