5 Ways To Use Twitter On Your Blog
Over the last few weeks the media in the UK seem to be all over twitter, from Stephen Fry talking about it on Jonathon Ross to the news coverage of the hudson river plane landing. It’s being touted as the Facebook of 2009, but how can you actually use it on your blog?
#1 Add a “follow-me” link next to your rss feed.
Make it prominant and above the fold, be sure to sure to make the link open in a new window – you don’t want to lose all your traffic to twitter!
#2 Install the TweetMyBlog plugin
This plugin does 2 things. It will display all your latest tweets in the sidebar of your blog, and it will automatically tweet when you make a new post. This means all your followers will know that you’ve produced new content, giving you instant traffic to that new article.
#3 Install the Sociable plugin
Be sure to select the “Twit This” bookmarking site, it means that people are automatically able to post the link to your new article so that their twitter followers can also read it – potentially very viral.
#4 Follow MrFox
Twitter is all about social connections, and by following people with the same interests you will build up a strong foundation. By following the leaders in your niche you will find new blogs and ideas for content to share.
#5 Just Be Yourself
To me the beauty of twitter is that I don’t have to write full length articles, I just post an update when I feel I have something to share. If I could justify the hassle of switching my mobile contract over to O2 and getting an iphone it would so simple to share my thoughts with the world.
Now I hope you find this article usefull, please post your comments below, and of course use the link top right to follow me on twitter.

Very useful post.
Off to install the ‘sociable’ plugin right now.
Thanks,

Hi Andrew
Very useful tips here. I already use Tweet-My-Blog and think it’s brilliant! It saves such a lot of time.
Do you mean Mr Tweet not Mr Fox though? Mr Tweet has been very helpful for building up my followers (Tweetergetter hasn’t worked for me at all – Mr Tweet has!)
I’m glad I’ve found your site as I want to look into Listbuilding – so I’m off to have a look round now.
All the best
